What is AI?
In the simplest terms, AI which stands for artificial intelligence refers to systems or machines that mimic human intelligence to perform tasks and can iteratively improve themselves based on the information they collect. AI manifests in a number of forms. A few examples are:
  • Chatbots use AI to understand customer problems faster and provide more efficient answers
  • Intelligent assistants use AI to parse critical information from large free-text datasets to improve scheduling
  • Recommendation engines can provide automated recommendations for TV shows based on users’ viewing habits
What is OER?
The term OER (Open Educational Resources) was coined at UNESCO's 2002 Forum on Open Courseware as "teaching, learning, and research materials in any medium, digital or otherwise, that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions."
  • Learn & Practice without restriction
  • Easy to access anywhere
  • A portal to enhance teaching & learning

Our Goal
We create practical AI workshops for students to gain hands-on experience and learn AI with fun. They will have more concrete ideas and feel more connected with the AI applications. After collecting the public resources on AI, we plan to create a website to organize these resources and categorize them by AI topics. With the resources put onto the PolyU OER portal, teachers can use it as teaching material while students can access it and attempt its exercises
  • Provide material for students to gain hands-on experience
  • Collect the public resources on AI
  • Teachers can access this website through PolyU OER Portal
